What information do you want?

Do you have his parents names?

Did he marry in Scotland?

I would like any information i can get.  i dont know if they were married in scotland or maybe ceylon.  jessie was born in kandy, ceylon and we can only assume that they were there with the British Army or as civil servants.  of course this was while mary was married to william dixon.  i only know of donald's time with the 91st highlanders through his work here in australia.  he was a prison warder in brisbane from 1891 to 1908.  i don't even know when they came to australia. some time after 1884.  Jessie was born in kandy abt  1884 and donald and mary ann had children here in australia in 1887 and 1891.  i would love to know where and when they were married and who the parents were as i have no info on them at all.  All our uncles and aunts have passed on and there is no one left to ask.

Their marriage is indexed at SP in 1887, minor records.  Being in the minor records most probably means somebody in the armed services marrying abroad.

think 91st highlanders became 1st battalion argyll and sutherland highlanders
in 1881
found reference to 1st battalion deployed in ceylon in 1885

hi everyone, thanks so much for your efforts.  unfortunately his death records doesn't give any parents names just that he was born in scotland.  mary ann's doesn't give parents names either.  She was my husbands great grandmother, and the daughter jessie, his grandmother.  i'm afraid i am not very computer literate and i just don't know enough to know where to look.  i have been on ancestry.com but no luck i'm afraid.  donald and mary ann  also had a child, mary mcgregor campbell born in qld in 1887, but mary ann could have been pregnant when they arrived here.  i am at a loss as to what happened to william dixon, the first husband. don't know if he died or they were divorced.  This has been bugging me for 12 months now.  i will have a look at the census that you mentioned, and please, if anyone has any other ideas, i would be truly greatful

This is the marriage record that Cookies4 found. If you view it on SP it should tell you who their parents were
