Looking for a burial, 1961
« on: Monday 19 April 10 19:07 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for the burial place for my grandfather (or he may quite possibly have been cremated):

Alfred Norman Dyer, died Sept 1961
lived in Thornton, died in the Royal Infirmary.

Does anyone have any resources to tell me where he might be? (I'm guessing Gilroes!)

thanks

Hmm, possibly a link - do you have any names/dates that you could share, alswilson?

A good way to locate a burial is to check the obituary column in the local newspaper. Often was the case to list the place and time of the funeral. some families also listed the mourners who attended.
The local papers should be held at the library. Most libraries will do a short search for you if you have the information and a photo copy of the page is about 50p. I have located both great grandparents this way. The list of mourners also give the relationship to the deceased which gives you some extra name to research.
Hope it helps and good luck with your research.
