Newbury - lookups for Froude

Hi,

I  would appreciate some assistance please,  in ascertaining   the baptism of Nicolas Froude * about 1640 .  I understand he was buried in Welford in 1674

Also his marriage to Martha (name unknown) possibly about 1665 and, if possible, the bapt. of
his son Joseph about 1668.

I  think it may have been in Newbury but have no firm evidence of this, only going on suggestions by others.
Joseph married in Shaw in 1698 and raised his family in Chaddleworth.



The registers for both Newbury & Shaw are not available on the IGI

The name features on the Hampshire Record Office database at http://calm.hants.gov.uk/DServe/ when you insert Nicholas Froud in the search facility.

Also, there are several 'hits' using Nicholas FROWDE and Kingsclere, Hampshire UK on the Family Search website:  http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#

Kingsclere is just over the border from Newbury, Berkshire.

People may be put off by the scale of the request (I know I am).  1640 + 20 years in Newbury means a lot of pages of fairly illegible registers.  There are transcripts for the period of interest (unindexed - so still 200 or so pages to go through) and they are not that accurate (the originals are pretty poor).

Films of the originals, and perhaps the transcripts, are available via the LDS Library at any of their Family History Centres so you may be able to do the lookup yourself.
