1841 census look up please
« on: Friday 23 April 10 13:06 BST (UK) »
Could someone please check if there are a Michael &/or Ann Asher living in Aslocton or Whatton, please  &, if so, if their daughter Elizabeth is still with them ?

I've got the baptism of their daughter, Elizabeth in 1797 (at Whatton....they were living in Aslocton), but I can't find a marriage for her in Notts or their deaths before 1815.

Thanks

A possible marriage in 1817 for Elizabeth to Joseph Goddard in South Muskham, Nottinghamshire.  The record is from Pallots and states the following:

Name: Joseph Goddard
Spouse: Eliz Asher
Spouse's Residence: of Aslockton. of The P. of Watton
Marriage Date: 1817
Parish: South Muskham

Thanks Kerry & Sharon....off to ponder.....my idea had been that Michael &/or Ann had died young & that Elizabeth had been taken in by relatives in Arnold & she became the Elizabeth who was buried there in 1815 (the burial record says at the age of 16), as this is the only baptism of an Elizabeth Asher of an appropriate age anyone has been able to find in Notts (have checked to see if, on the very off chance she was living there as "Mrs Asher".....but she was rather too young. The Arnold family had a son named John, but he married a Mary)

And what you've found looks like her wedding

The family in Arnold also had a son named William but he married a Clementine in 1820 & I think Elizabeth's age at the time of death (there's a 2 year difference between her & the one baptised in Whatton but, even if there had been a mistake, she would only have been 18 when she died) & the marriage you've found, means she wasn't the same woman

I've also checked the Notts marriages up to the end of 1815 to see if an Asher married an Elizabeth (eg if her age was incorrect etc), but there was only one....a John Asher marrying an Elizabeth Hopewell in 1806 in Nottm St Mary's....but that's where they stayed
