Agnes Sophia Mary Bruce-Gardyne - 1870 Umballa
« on: Saturday 24 April 10 10:14 BST (UK) »
I have an Agnes Sophia Mary Bruce-Gardyne born 18 March 1870 Umballa West Bengal India to an Evan Bruce-Gardyne and mother Alice Ann Howarth. Also a Catherine Bruce-Gardyne born 2nd August 1873 Sealkote West Bengal.

Can not find a marriage for the parents or any information on the family until Agnes marries in England in 1891.

Would his movements suggest army or trade for Evan's occupation?

Agnes married Randal Playford in 1891.

I would love any information on this family please.

According to the Times report on then death of Lt Patrick Randal Playford ("Fallen officers", July 11, 1917 page 9 ), his grandfather was Major Evan Bruce-Gardyne of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

it states here that Evan Bruce -Gardyne was b 1885 ..he went to sea and was known as Capt Evan Bruce-Gardyne 13th Middleton   his son BARON John Bruce-Gardyne b 12th Apr 1930......if you research backwards you will see the Bruce-gardyne family go back as 14th Middleton / 13th Middleton / 12th Middleton etc..  Peers of some sort   :o   .......allan ;)
William Bruce-Gardyne who died 15th June 1856 was known as
