Robert "Buck" McNair's relative?
« on: Wednesday 28 April 10 12:11 BST (UK) »
I noticed this news article a couple of days ago and saw the Canadian lady with the double-banger surname. Had the idle thought that she might be a relative of the well-known Canadian ace. Over to you Rootschat types that might know how to work such things out.

As I said, long shot. Hell of an achievement, by the way!

Bendigo woman conquers North and South poles - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Quote:
A woman from Bendigo in Victoria has become the first Australian woman to trek to both the North and South poles.

Linda Beilharz reached the North Pole yesterday morning after trekking more than 800 kilometres since February.

She trekked with her husband Rob Rigato and Canadian guide Sarah McNair-Landry.

Five years ago she was the first woman to ski from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole.

The three will now be taken by helicopter to Russia and then Norway before returning home.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know and I will pass the information on!

Unlikely.

If you google her name you will find that her mother (McNair) is an American while her father (Landry) is a French Canadian from Ontario.

Many thanks for that.  Will let my friend on other forum know that he is barking up the wrong tree!  :)
