Marriage of William Bannister and Alice Greer 1836
« on: Wednesday 28 April 10 15:48 BST (UK) »
This is probably one of my Bannisters  The record in LDS states
William Birth about 1811 in Down,Connor and Diocese of Dromore,Ulster Province,Ireland
Alice born about 1815, same place
Their marriage was 1836 as above.
I am pretty positive that they both came from the Lisburn area.  My Bannisters were all from Derriaghy.  I know that William and Alice moved about a bit, as he worked for the railway company in Co. Down and I have the baptisms of all of their children.
What I NEED is the name of William's father.
Do you think this is a Church of Ireland Record??  If so, do you think they might have been married in Lisburn Cathedral?
Opinions please, before I start paying a researcher.

It's a submitted record (ages of bride and groom based on supposed marriage date- bride always seems to be 4 years younger than groom, etc.)- if it was based on a church record then I would expect to see a more exact date than 1836- possibly 1836 based on age of oldest known child.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, I realise that this is a submitted record.  Of course LDS don't name the submitters any longer.  The first child, Mary Ann was recorded as being born in December 1841, but I can't find out where she was born.  The next 4 children were born in Co. Armagh.  These Bannisters are very elusive!  RosemaryJoan
