I have been researching my moms side in England & Dublin for a few years now so thought it only fair to start on my dads but I am finding it a tad difficult
I know my dad was born in Strabane in the 50's his mom was Julia Agnes Canning. She married John Kelly b 1925 in Tullamore, in England in 1952. She came back to Strabane to have my dad and he lived with her parents for a few years before moving to England with his parents.
Her birth certificate states her parents as William Canning & Julia Canning nee Gallagher. Living in Meeting House street, Strabane. On my gran's marriage certificate William is Stated as being a Railway Painter. Julia Agnes was born in July 1930.
My dad was baptised at our lady of the immaculate consumption church if this helps at all! The sponsors were William Canning & Margaret Canning. My Dad believes Margaret was married to Julia's Brother.
I have searched the 1911 census but can't find anything on the canning family so if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated. My dad has informed me that the Canning family was quite a big one so fingers crossed!!
