Hi Migky Can you help me out. I received this request and saw your post. Any info would be welcomed. Cheers Ericx
Hi there Eric, I noticed (not sure how long ago) that someone on a forum asked if anyone from Manchester could visit the Library and check the Absent Voters List for them. I was wondering if you feel up to it, if you wouldn't mind doing that for me as well? I'm all the way in Australia.
I'm trying to find out about my great-great-grandfather Robert Shaw. He was a Gunner in the military and he was from Hulme in Manchester. I know he was born in 1882 and died before 1929. But I would like to know exactly when/how he died. The last thing I know about him is that he had a son in 1909, and I also have a photograph/post card of him in his military uniform on horseback, which I think is from around 1914, most likely not long before he got sent off to war.
So, my dilemma is that I don't know his regiment or number. If he was on the Absent Voters List, those things would be in there. So, if you could get back to me either on here or send me an e-mail at *, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Amy
