Lion Street Brecon
« on: Saturday 01 May 10 22:03 BST (UK) »
 :)
Does anyone know what happened to Liondore House in Lion Street, Brecon? Is it still there? Was it renamed or demolished? My family lived there in the early 1900s. Also has anyone come across the surname Dickie, specifically Captain Dickie, late 1800s?
 ???

You will find a family by the name of Dickie in Brecon in the 1891 census. Not in Lion Street, but at the Drill Hall, in The Watton [street].  David Dickie, 47 was 'Volunteer Sgt Major'.  He and his wife born Ireland, with seven children, born at various places including 'The Tower, London'.
Could he be your 'Captain Dickie'?

Hi,

If you use Google Earth (type in Lion Street, Brecon) you can "walk" up and down; it looks lovely.  :)

If you have the 1901 census perhaps you can work out where Liondore House was by checking the numbers of the neighbouring houses.
