I am trying to find my great great grandfather Robert Barkley. I know he was in England as he appears on the 1881 census, but he gives his place of birth simple as Ireland. He died before 1891. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Was Robert Barkley in Darlington in 1881 and married to Ellen?

Any more information you can give will help to narrow it down.

Yes that is him. I have not been able to find out much else about him. There are some other Barkley's in Co. Durham form Sligo and Kildare. there is a record of a Robert in the IGI from Antrim, but I have no way of proving it is hime really.
