Family of Jane Moore of Loughborough - help please!
« on: Monday 10 May 10 18:03 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am trying to find any information on Jane Moore's roots.  I have her christened at Loughborough All Saints on 13 Nov 1805, Married at Radford Notts, to a William Hutchinson, and she dies at Nottingham age 70 in 1887 in Nazareth House.

I believe her parents were Thomas Moore, and Alice Roper, who married at Loughborough All Saints on 4 April 1803.

Sadly that is all I have , and I would dearly love to find out anything else about her family.
Where did they live in her childhood?
When did her parents die?

So chaps, any help would be most welcome!

Thank you in advance,
Best wishes,
Copperbeech5

Hi Mike,

Well what a star you are! That is a fantastic start to my evening, thank you, and thank you also for your warm welcome!

I have just spent the evening down at the Library, and I now wonder if Alice Moore's (nee Roper) lot were from Mountsorrel, but your info is great, because I have been so stuck.  I have tried many times to see if I could find them on the Census, but without any luck. Your find about Alice is very intersting, also still would love to place where Thomas Moore comes from, if poss.

Fantastic so far, and if you or anyone else feel like a futher ferret, it would be much appreciated! As the old saying goes.... Many hands etc!

Very best wishes,

Greeting’s again. …Copperbeech 5.

 :)......As requested........ :)

I’ve done a bit more ferreting around ……….

1811. Index Census returns for Loughborough
Sunday 27th. May.

Roper John. Cordwainer.

Persons dwelling within his Household ;~

Males…… . 4. ....... Includes.  3. Male Lodges.
Females……1.

Pity this early forerunner to the Censuses we know.
Did not give names other than Head of Household.

As most of these returns did not survive in fact we only got half of Loughborough
And what’s the betting the other half contained the Moore’s. ……. :'(

MIKE. …….  ;)

Hi Mike,

Thank you so very much for your latest gems of information, I am very impressed!

I am still fairly new to all this, and from your results, I see you call it the 1811 Census a forerunner - I know nothing about such an early type of census.... or where to find it, are your working from discs you have bought or is this sort of information freely available, or am I just being dense?!

I am guessing that there is no actual address for this census, and as you say, sad that the form was not a bit more detailed (well, sad for us at least!!)

Wonderful, thank you once again,
Very best wishes,
Copperbeech5
