« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 19:23 BST (UK) »
i am trying to find any Marsden family that is tied into the Jesty family from barnet, mid to late 1920's. i have tried the local council for anything from there records, but with out going to Barnet no chance of any help. the Marsdens that i am trying to find got married to two Jesty sisters from barnet, Arthur Stansfield Marsden married Sybil E Jesty in 1926Sept,  William Edward Marsden married Ada Jesty 1928 June. there was a sister to the two boys called Dorothey Helena Marsden i have nothing on her.  any help would be wellcome Keith  Marsden( related).

Hi Plum,

This could well be Dorothy Helena's birth:

Dorothy Helena Marsden - Dec 1901 - Chorley 8e 477
(The family are in Lancashire in 1911).

If so, she possibly never married:
Death Jun 1983 Greenwich 12 1156
Dorothy Helena Marsden born 1 Oct 1901

Any use?  :-\

PS. I can see 4 births of children called Marsden with mother's maiden name Jesty - sending details by PM.

hi there Tati   yes thats the right one for Helena,  her dad was in the marines he joined in 1881 and in 1901 he was a recruiting sargent in Chorley, it looks as though he was doing a 25yr enlistment,  i found him in 1914 trying to enlist for war service in Manchester aged 55yrs  they signed him up but only for home service until such times as they required a lot more troops quickly but he was also given a warrant at that time that enabled him to sign himself out and this was what he did and he had done 2yrs 242 days, from that point i lost him. at the time war broke out he was a school caretaker living at School House, Cambrian St, Beswick, Manchester.  he must have had a screw loose as the rest of the marsden clan where farmers and seemed to doing ok, his father left just short of £2,ooo in 1882. now i would like to find out what his service records say, but you have to go to kew, i have his records for when he rejoined for ww1.   thanks for what you have done for me plum.
