Charles Kibble
« on: Tuesday 11 May 10 19:29 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on Charles Kibble who married a Bridget ?.
They had a child Annie Kibble born 1869 in Camberwell.
The only marriage I can find is a marriage in 1904 between Charles Kibble and a Bridget Mullings.
On the 1871 census they had Charles Kibble and a Bridget married.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem.

Hi Treddz,

The 1904 marriage does look spot on, doesn't it? It's not very common but not unheard of either, to see people who marry after long years of living together and pretending to be married.

The 1851 census shows a matching Bridget Hines. She goes on to marry a Thomas Mullens (1863, Camberwell). Maybe they separated and she wasn't able to marry Charles until her first hubby was dead?

 :)

I suppose you saw the 1904 marriage cert - all the details seem to match your Charles/Bridget couple. The 1841 census confirms that Charles' father was Thomas (mother Mary was widowed by 1851)

Where does the 12yr old child Annie come from in 1881 census? In 1871, isn't Charles an unmarried lodger in Isleworth and Bridget with 1st husband Thomas, children Mary and Catherine and 60yr old Mary Mullins?? :-\

Daughter Catherine seems to have died soon after the census; could "Annie Kibble" aged 12 and "Mary Mullins" aged 3 actually be the same girl? (perhaps a "Mary Ann"?)

There's quite a gap between her and the other child with Charles and Bridget on 1881.

Alternatively, there's an Annie Louisa Elphick b. 1870 Camberwell, with her mother Elizabeth (unmarried, aged 24) in Camberwell in 1870 in the house of Elizabeth's uncle, Francis Kibble.
(This would fit with the Annie Louisa Kibble m. 1894 St. Saviour for whom there does not appear to be a matching birth)

Hi, Just came across this message so have signed up in order to reply! Bridget Mullins/Kibble is my G.G.Grandmother her first marriage produced 2 daughters Annie (my G.Grandmother) & Bridget. The 2nd marriage produced 4 children Henry, Charles, George & Mary. Henry & Charles emigrated to Canada, George was killed in action 29/10/14. Mary married Arthur Duller 1897.
