Red Flag for email?
« on: Thursday 13 May 10 15:49 BST (UK) »
Not sure if i'm correct but i think it is possible to determine if your mail has reached its destination and has been read??

I think you place a Red Flag on the mail as you send it --but where is the flag?

I've looked at the 'help' section of Outlook and i'm none the wiser :-[ Poli

If you look at the "Options" section on the tool bar when you are creating an e-mail, you will see a tiny arrow on the bottom right. Click on that, and you'll see an option for a receipt when read.

VERY VERY few of the options actually work and rightly so, as would be a spammers heaven.

To get read receipts for all emails you send:

Go to 'Tools', then 'options'.
Select the tab which says 'receipts'.
Check the box which says 'request a read receipt for all sent messages'. Click 'OK'.

Sorry - perhaps you have a different version of outlook to me. It must be there somewhere though. Check through all the various tabs on 'tools'.

Found it--it was in options but under a different choice--Email options and then -track options --and then finally a little box to tick-- all mail or singular--have chosen all.

Many thanks to all who replied.   :) poli

I sent  a reply to a fellow researcher this morning and have just been alerted by Outlook that the message had been read.

The flag on the message from Outlook was Green. ::)

The reason i wanted to make sure my mail was read/received is because i've occasion recently to send copies of photos to someone and had no reply from them.

I know i had the correct address and i waited some time and emailed to ask if they had received them. 'No,sorry' they said, I've sent the pics again and will see what happens this time.
