Hi Kate

Scottish census images are available on a payperview site

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ It costs about $11 AUD for 30 credits.

Could I suggest you put links to the other Broach topics,

Andy

Kate

You have many posts on George Broach on different threads and it gets confusing knowing what you have already and what people can add that is new to your research. I think you have been given on a number of different posts what information there is on the early censuses:

www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,429233.0.html
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,456115.0.html

I think from what I have read, you have potentially census info for George from 1841, already in England, up to his death.

You have two potential relatives, the John who George looks to be living with in 1841, and then the witness at his marriage to Hannah, a James.

To actually make the formal links, you may need to purchase some certs. (such as the marriage of James to Sophia) to be certain.

The potential father, James Broach, blacksmith still looks to be alive in 1861 with wife Elizabeth and children in Cargen Bridge. Might be an idea to look at the image of his death as sometimes names of previous spouses are shown, if known to the informant.

A Scottish death cert, with all the additional reporting info, for James Snr. might not be possible  :-\ There is a family tree on Ancestry (you would have to double check the sources) that shows James Snr as having died in June 1881 in Cumbria, Cumberland.

Wife Elizabeth is showing with a maiden name of Peterson (or Paterson) - also given as having died in 1873 in Cumbria, Cumberland.

Regarding the household that you have for George in 1841, staying with a John Broatch and wife Ann, these look to potentially be IGI entries for the births of some of their children:

HELLEN BROACH Birth: 11 FEB 1826 Closeburn, Dumfries - John Broach and Ann Hunter
MARGARET BROATCH Birth: 21 FEB 1831 Durrisdeer, Dumfries - John Broach or Bruce and Ann Hunter

This couple banns/marriage shows on 25 NOV 1825 Holywood, Dumfries.
