Barclay's Brewery

[Aboreal Addict]

 My GT Grandfather   Isaac  Meadows  and his two brothers  Thomas and Charles  worked for the brewery from the late 1880's  until  1929  in Isaac's case.  I know that Isaac worked as a brewer and a drayman and I would like  to see if I can find out anymore about his life there.

I was wondering if any records exist for the brewery  be it employment, social  or other.

Hi Valda,  Thanks for your reply   and for your information.   I had done the normal   googleing  and had found that page  but the google books is new  to me so that's a help.

So the national archives have some records  pity I don't live a little bit nearer London,

I don't believe TNA have any records. I was using a TNA search engine which is helpful for finding records wherever they are deposited. The list given cites the records held at the London Metropolitan Archives and the Courage brewery archives (link given)

Sorry I thought you were asking specifically about the whereabouts of the company records and those had been now been found. I'll put it back onto the main board but perhaps you could be more specific about what else you might like to find out about the company - perhaps memories of people who worked for the company though that would probably now be mostly after the Second World War?
