What is this Russian note?
« on: Saturday 22 May 10 19:39 BST (UK) »
My father produced this note the other day and was about to give it away.
I asked him whether it was Russian money, but he didn't think so.
Has anyone any ideas what it is?

Hi"

It is a 250 rouble note - very interesting as it was issued in 1917 - during the Russian Revolution
Best wishes, Judy :-))

So it is money!
I wonder whether it is worth anything then.  It hadn't dawned on me that it was during the time of the revolution.  I should have known really.

I would imagine this was issued under the old regime (the Revolution was October 1917), as it has the Tsarist double headed eagle on it.

Take it to a coin and note dealer. It is worth nothing in modern terms as the pre revolutionary currency was not honoured. However, I don't know but it could be of considerable value to a collector.

I've just searched the net for Russian bank notes and found an identical one being sold for.....£6!!
I don't think he'll get rich, but we do have a coin dealer in town.  I'll give it a go!

At least as lucky as me. Some years ago I was given a 50Kr Icelandic coin, then worth approx £7, which would have been a decent profit as I was given it as a £ coin. Not worth much now though,
