new tabs IE to show recently viewed pages

I hope you recognise what i'm talking about..it was there now just blank page 
yes i am using my sons laptop, which he kindly left
Using Internet explorer and when I used to click on the new tab - there was a wonderful page that had all my recently viewed pages and list and picture format..a great way to quickly get back to much loved pages

BUT today it has gone..I don't even know what programme it was associated with in order to resurrect it
Does anyone else have these tabs and know what I'm talking about..if so how can I get it back

Suggest you have a look in Tools>Internet Options>Tabs Settings and check the setting for "when a new tab is opened"

and I tried that; doesnt do anything !   I just have a tab called 'blank page' which is a blank page !
