National Library of Ireland have hundreds of Mayo photographs 1880 - 1914 on their web site free to view.  Eason collection excellent, just put Mayo in the search box to narrow it down.  Happy viewing! :)

They are brilliant mazbonks- thanks. :)
From the few places I know -so interesting to see the massive changes in some photos like Castlebar and that other views near where we go are almost the same.

Thanks for the post Heywood, so pleased you like them.  I have  family photographs of the River Moy Ballina and especially the Quay in the area of the Ice House (now a hotel) and Beleek Wood.  I'm just sad that  my family who lived there but have now passed on didn't get the chance to view them.  What a wonderful thing the internet is.

I'll be there next week  ;D

I realised when I posted that the sea/lake/mountains photos won't have changed much  ::)
I thought I would take a couple of photos of Kilcummin/Killala to compare - it will  be interesting.

And Heywood (lucky you) if you get near the North Mayo Heritage Centre call in - they have a bundle of old photos I sent - 1920's - Ballina - Westport etc -  that they were going to put up in the museum.  Enjoy your trip.

Hi Ebch,
we may well go. The last time I was at the Heritage centre (a good few years ago) there wasn't much. Also, I wasn't that impressed with them, having sent the details I had re my family - they charged me quite a tidy sum, to just put it all back in a nice letter with no further info!!
That was pre- computer days and I am glad to say that we have quite a bit of info now about one branch due to the hard work of my 2nd cousin (found via internet) in USA.
