John Webb
« on: Thursday 27 May 10 11:04 BST (UK) »
Looking for any information on John WEBB, b. 1855 at Tipton. His parents were William WEBB, b. 1827, a coal miner and Mary SOUTHALL, b. 1836 both born in Tipton Their children were:

John, b. 1855, coal miner
Elizabeth, b. 1863
William, b. 1865
Thomas, b. 1867 George, b. 1874.
All children were born in Tipton. In 1881 census they were living at 65, Tipton Road, Tipton.

In the early 1890s, John, b. 1855 went to Australia, marrying Elizabeth STEWART  at Greta, New South Wales and settled in the Hunter Valley, where he was a miner. I have tried, unsuccessfully to join a Genealogical Forum for New South Wales so I looks as though I have to do the research from the England side.
Any help re. John & Elizabeth's family would be appreciated.

Hi, Pam & Downunder,
Thank you both for the information. This will be a great help in adding to the family tree. This is for a contact I made whilst researching the Webb family of Tipton (my maternal grandfather was Simeon Webb, b. 1864). Katie, my contact lives in Australia and is keen on finding out John Webb, b. 1855 from when he went there but she will be delighted in these extra details. Good Old Rootschat!!!

Hi, Pam,
Thanks for your e-mail. It's time I changed my glasses but take  the 'thanks' as twofold !!
I have had  a reply from Katie in Australia, so she sends her thanks, also. She now seems to have all the records she needs so we can call it a day, I think. Have a nice weekend.
Rob.

Hi, Alli,
Thank you for your reply but I think this is a different Webb family as Mary, William's wife was still alive in the 1891 census. However, it is another Webb family in my search for the Webbs - there were an awful lot of them in the Tipton, Sedgley & Coseley area. Too many to count, I think but they are all related at some point!! Many thanks for your efforts.
Rob.
