Can anyone help?

Hi have a photo found in my dads belongings but i am unsure of the type of uniform being worn by the gentleman on the right. i understand that the other soldier is WW1 uniform (I hope this is right). Have tried I.W.M. but they were unable to help. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. (can you please let me know if photo not showing. thank you)

If you told us who the other soldier is and why he is in your dad's things, it gives more to work on. If you know the theatre of war, then identifying a foreigner is much easier.

If IWM do not know, then he is nothing obvious like French.
