I would like help to find relatives: James McNamara born 1863 in County Meath.  He immigrated to US around 1882. Parents were James McNamara and Bridget Dolan.  Do not know their birth dates or places of birth.  Would like to know history of the family.  Thanks!

Welcome to Rootschat. Registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so for earlier dates you need to search for church records. However, I.G.I. (www.familysearch.org) lists several children with parents named James McNamara and Bridget Dolan who could be siblings of your James McNamara:
1. Anne born 24 Sept.1864 Ballyboggan, Co. Meath (page 539 in civil register)
2. Honor born 5 May 1872 Co. Meath
3. Anne born 2 July 1875 Co. Meath

Thank you!  If that is the correct family, why wouldn't James be listed, along with the other children, with birth information?

I.G. has some, not all, Irish births 1864-c1882. If you read my earlier post you will see that registration of births started in 1864 and there will be no birth certificates for anyone born before 1864.
