Nutton Family

I am very new at this and I am having trouble finding info on my grand farther's
family. His name was Benjamin Nutton born 8 April 1897 in Batley or Ossett,died 17 August 1960 in Batley. His father was Charles Nutton. Benjamin married Emily Myatt 3 March 1917 in Carlinghow. Can any one help please.

Welcome to rootschat. Have you tried looking for your Nutton familyon any censuses yet?

I had a quick look using the search engine on the National archives 1901 census website (http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/)  and this family living in Soothill Upper, Yorks seemed to match the details that you gave:

Charles Nutton 40 b Sowerby bridge, Yorks Coal miners deputy
Faith Nutton 38 b Batley
Beatrice 15 b Batley Woolen weaver
Ellis 11
Ben 3
William 6
Edith 4M (all kids bn Batley)

Using the search engine via http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/census/ the same family seems to be found in Batley in 1891 Rg12 piece 3720
 and a possible Charles in 1881 (via same site) is at 19 Wainhouse terrace, Skircoat, Yorks with mother Ellen b. 1830 Ireland who is apparently married but no father is listed and two other siblings

To find the birth cert. of Ben have you tried http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl ?
Looking quickly perhaps the June 1997 quarter birth:
Nutton    Ben         Dewsbury    9b   621   

is a possibilty?

but the 1891 and 1901 are so far by subscription /pay per view...or a post here perhaps if some has the census directly

I would suggest the GRO site at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

You can order using a credit card and they will post them out to you in a reasonably quick time.
