Thomas Taylor - Surby Fisherman
« on: Wednesday 02 June 10 17:47 BST (UK) »
I wonder if somebody would be good enough to confirm a birth entry for Thomas Taylor, Son of John Taylor (fisherman) and Margaret Kermode ?

Born Rushen approx 1854/ 1855.

Married Isabella Gilmour on the 13 November 1880 at Kirk Rushen, Resided at Surby, Drowned at sea at some point between 1891 Census and 1895 (No entry in Rushen Burial register as body was not recovered.

His wife Isabella died January 1892 aged 37 years.

Kind Regards

there is an entry in Rushen burial register for a Thomas Taylor -25 Oct 1895 - age 42 - try asking on http://www.isle-of-man.com/cgi-bin/interests/genealogy/bulletin/index.pl?noframes if there is an MI as Donna there has the complete set for all parishes - his widow (or childre nas  it appears he was a widower from your request) would need some record of death to sort out any estate - there should be some official note - I understand that due to the tides most bodies of those drowned inshore would fairly quickly land up on the coast.
