Hi, My name is Tamara.
I am searching for infomation on my Great Grandfather.
John Eric Kelman was born 19.5.1912 in Banffshire, Scotland and died 3.4.1964 in Fremantle, Perth Western Australia. I dont know when he came to Australia. I am trying to find a birth record for him so Ican maybe find out his parents names and whether he had any sibblings.

If John Eric was born illegitimate the birth is likely to be recorded under the mother's name.

I have no idea if John Eric was illegitimate or not I can't find any infomation on him. When he signed up for WW2 he stated that he was born in Banffshire, Scotland, that is all I know. Tamara

Assuming for the moment that your information is correct, there is one technique you could use based on the probability that John Eric might be a unique set of christian names in Banffshire for 1911.
On Scotlandspeople.gov.uk search births for forename John Eric with surname Ab*, then Ac*, Ad* etc. Probably best to widen the year range a little. Should take you less than an hour to find him, then download his birth certificate.

The * is a wildcard which can stand for any amount of letters, including none.

i think you should obtain that death cert. , it might just contain the mothers
maiden name
this would put you on firm ground for any further scottish research

i see from his service record that his next of kin was grace kelman

would this cert. have his parents names ?
