« on: Thursday 10 June 10 14:09 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am posting this for a friend who has no knowledge of the regiment or indeed place of birth of his grandfather

His name is John Allen Hutton born 1890c place Unknown
he married in 1915 aged 25 ( as per his wedding cert) in Hoxton Middlesex to Louisa Mary Stock.

his Occupation Private Soldier

His father on marriage was listed as John Allen Hutton (Deceased an Insurance agent)

Please could anyone with more knowledge take a look and give any information on his regiment

It may be that he came originally from scotland.

Many thanks in advance from Richard who's grandfather  this is

There is a likely looking pension record on Ancestry!

319437 Gunner John Allen Hutton, Royal Garrison Artillery. (Cap badge is consistent with this, I think. Can you read his shoulder titles?)

Address: 21 Linton St, New North Rd, London. Enlisted 29/4/15, aged 24 years 334 days.
Discharged 12/3/19 from 37th Anti-Aircraft Company RGA. Profession Carpenter's Labourer. Wife Louisa, address as above.
He served in various home defence units of the RGA and Royal Field Artillery in the UK. He did not serve overseas at all (possibly due to a hernia he suffered in Oct 1915, for which he claimed a pension), hence there is no Medal Index card for him.

Hope this helps,
Adrian

The top photo shows his shoulder title, which looks as if there is a 'T' above two other rows of lettering.  This means he was a Territorial, but I canot make out the other rows.

Hi Judi !

I think you could be really lucky and Adrian might be right about his pension record as Image 11359 on Ancestry notes Louisa Hutton (wife) of 21 Linton Street, New North Road, London N1

Hi to all

What a great response.

Adrian is spot on and Thank you all so much for your time Richard is over the moon to say the least and on the back of the service record I have now found the family in 1891 Miss transcribed as HULTON ....( I have now submitted an amendment for that ) for those in future.

Also for anyone else who might be connected there is a London record of his Baptism in Lambeth

for James Allen Hutton (Junior) in 1890

Many Many thanks to you all

Kind regards Judi
