hi migky thank you for  reply. in answer to your question there is the possibility that she lied on the 1911 census and that she had never married as there is also the distinct possibility that she had given birth to a illegitimate child. thank you booty

Hello

I am not sure whether the lady who appears as a Braid tenter, in 1881, at 59 Chester Street - (Chorlton on Medlock RG11/3939 Folio 121 Page 22) is the same lady that you mention on the 1911 census, or if this will help anyone else to find her ... but they are both shown with a birth year of 1854 (rather than 1845/1849).

I wonder if the Isabella you have as a widow is actually my Isabella Evans (maiden name Lomax)?
She was the wife of Joseph Evans
I have both of them on the 1881 cencus aong with a daughter Ellen born in 1880, but so far their other cencus records & death records have eluded me. (they are branches not direct ancestors so I havent chased them up yet.)

Josephs birth is recorded as 1848 - Isabella I havent looked into yet but it would be around the same time.

Gaille

I think "your" Isabella Evans, Joseph's wife, had died before 1891 ...

1891

Chorlton RG12/3167 Folio 138 Page 31

Joseph Evans Head Widr 43 Painter & Decorator Lancashire Liverpool
Ellen do Daur 11 Lancashire Manchester
Joseph do Son 8 Lancashire Manchester
Ernest do Son 6 Lancashire Manchester

14 Cowells Bdgs, Ardwick, Manchester

Based upon her age in 1881, Isabella’s death registration must be in the last quarter of 1887, at Chorlton, aged 41 (Reference 8c 489)
