FORRESTERS
« on: Wednesday 16 June 10 11:58 BST (UK) »
Have just been told my Grandfather founded the SKERRIES Co. Dublin-Branch of this Order in C1900, he was to die tragically in 1912 whilst working in Galway Eire as a Stonemason, leaving a Widow and 9 Children in dire straights back home. Has anyone an idea of how to investigate this new and valued information, accepting it was so long ago please? I am pleased that there exists a recorded mention of this fact in archives of the Historical-Society in Skerries, my source.   'Very Grateful' anything thanks.

I believe there are a large number of Newspapers held by the local library of Galway, perhaps you should contact them in the first instance.

Attached some info on Ancient Order of Froesters in Ireand. It Relates to a court in Dublin, since disbanded but THe Ancient Oder of Foresters is still in operation in England if you google them.

AOF,    My thanks to you all for the information given, particularly that quote from HB4...greatly valued and this info (edited) will sit alongside the Profiling of Grandfather. I hope my trawl with the Order might expand on this in time?
Cheers,  M.
