Hi FS2011
Just going through those Monumental inscriptions.  Another interesting set of data.  there look like being other links in Meath.

I must say I still find the Irish geography very confusing which doesn't help finding the right record!

Best wishes

Hi,

I have looked on Ancestry, and this is how I got to find out about Daniels son Edward. Edward as stated was born in Edmonton in 1825 got married in Brighton in 1848. I have found a number of Hoeys in Sussex, but cannot find a connection. Frances Hoey born Lewes in 1795, could be a brother to Daniel?

Edward was a coastguard and this is how I got back to the RN connection, via Martin who researches coastguards and told me I would need to go to Kew, and will get round to it at some time.

I know a lot about Edward, as I say, but Daniel Hoey is proving difficult, I have got his pension records but they do not tell me his birth place only that he was 24 when he joined his first ship HMS Ramillies on 1 Apr 1824 and a record of the ships he served on and that he left the navy in on 9 Dec 1843, nothing found after this?

I don't subscribe to Find my Past, but guess I might get something with the Daily Mail offer!

Kind regards Peter

Looks as if 1841 might be iteresting but I'll double check it's not among your other info.

PS

All the Hoeys I've found down south apart from my potato hawker have been linked to the forces.

I'm still wondering if some may still be linked to mine as the forces was a good job when they were struggling.  Also they worked with horses and leather and it looks as if many may have been innvolved with the army in their work already.

Hi All,

I found a great uncle John Daniel Hoey in the records for Masters and Mates Certificates. But also noted a Thomas Hoey born 25 Oct 1826 at Louth, Louth, certificate dated 7 Jan 1853, that might be of interest to somebody.

Regards Peter
