Green family travelling to India
« on: Friday 18 June 10 23:44 BST (UK) »
I have my Green family returning from Bombay 02/06/1923, Ship's name: Plassy but I haven't been able to find them going there ???...can someone help me please.

Return to UK details:
Thomas H Green age 45 Occupation Salvation Army..proposed address: Salvation Army Hostel Highbury, London.
Alice 21 Dressmaker...these are both his daughters
Lily 14

Thomas Henry Green is a Colliery Haulier in other census years and has a wife named  Gertrude Annie (Bodenham) both born 1877/8, they also have another child named Charles Edward Green b1900....but neither of them are on the passenger list returning to the UK....this family were all born in Wales. UK

I am interested to find out if Gertrude travelled with him to India and died there but stories from  relations say she died in the UK. ..and I have found possible death in Swansea 1924.

Looks like Thomas went out to India again.
He gives his address as Highbury
Ship  Kaiser I Hind
Thomas Henry GREEN  age 46
Date of dep 9 January 1925 London
 Passenger destination Bombay, India
 Occupation Salvation Army

There are four more Greens on this voyage but a separate family from Yorkshire and no names match yours.

Can't find yours on outgoing voyages yet.

Are they on the 1911 census as that would narrow down the date they travelled abroad

Hi crisane,

Thanks for that, I wonder where the children were that time

He was supposed to be quite high up in the Salvation Army and wonder now how many trips he made abroad

He re-married in 1929 and was a Steele worker...I know his second wife didn't go abroad at anytime.

Thank you so much :P...I have been looking for days and couldn't find them. :-\

I guess his wife Gertrude did die in India then, although again I haven't found her death.

Can't thank you enough.

Glad to help. I have to remind myself to look at the initials only option on FindMyPast.  This time I looked for Alice then at the A's going to Bombay.
