Hiya

I have found out from my great grandfathers death certificate that when he died on 20th April, 1922 an inquest into his death was held by the coroners office on 22nd April, 1922.

My great grandad was Thomas Robert Slater and he lived and also died in Greetham.

Does anybody know what the local newspaper of the time was and if there would be copies held in an archive?

I live in Manchester so its hard for me to just 'pop' down to Rutland you see.

Also, does anybody have experience of obtaining an old coroners report if they in fact exist?

Thanks

Sad to see that you have not had a response until now.

Suggest you contact Rutland County Museum http://www.rutland.gov.uk/pp/gold/viewGold.asp?IDType=Page&ID=17619
they give an email address on this page. As you have specific dates they may be able to do a look-up for you and possibly send a copy of anything they find. I've been able to do this a couple of times in other locations and was only charged a couple of pounds.

Happy hunting  :D
