My mother's maternal grandmother was Florence Liebman Leopold (daughter of Sigmund and niece of Lewis). Florence married George Spawton Catlow, my great-grandfather, who was an artist (mostly watercolour landscapes). They lived in Leicester.

Had a look at FreeBMD today.
The only marriage I can find for George Spawton Catlow was in 1883 at Hinkley in Leicestershire - bride was Florence Emma GILBERT.
Followed George S Catlow (many spellings) down through the Census - in 1891 there is not sign of G's wife and in 1901 George is brother in law to Thomas ALlen and family.
I am a little confused now.
Florence Leibman Leopold was definitely daughter of Sigmund and Emma/Ellen Leopold - noted in 1871 1881 and 1891 Census where she is aged 22 years.
Perhaps she was George's second wife?

Regards
Vicki

Yes, she was his second wife. I am pretty certain they were still together in 1901. They had a cottage at Kibworth near Leicester. It may be that Florence was there and that George was at his brother-in-law's (his sister's husband's place) at the time the census was filled in. The sad part is that Florence was sectioned in 1907 and spent the rest of her life in an asylum. This was a bit of family histyory that, needless to say, none of her immediate relatives were keen to talk about. I found out from my mother about twenty years ago, but the details are rather shrouded in mystery.

Catching up with descendant Shirley in the morning.
Will tell her all about Florence! How sad.

When did Florence die?

I don't know when Florence died, but will investigate further and let you know what I find. What relation is Shirley to Lewis, Sigmund and Babette?

Best wishes.
