1851/61 Census - Bates at Yaxley please
« on: Tuesday 29 March 05 20:14 BST (UK) »
Hello

Please could some one look up my gggrandfarther John Bates born 1850/1.

The 1871, 81, 91 census show him in Lincolnshire, his place of birth as Huntingdon, and once as Yaxley, Huntingdon.  I have been unable to trace his birth or parents etc.

Any info greatfully received.

Regards

Hi Claire

In both 1851 and 1861 Yaxley comes within Peterborough registration district and therefore falls within Northants.  Yaxley is definitely not in the Hunts census set on CDrom for 1861 (1851 is not yet available on CDRom) but the reference is RG9/964 - you may increase your chance of success if you also post on the Northants board

Regards

Hi

Is anyone able to confirm if this person is shown on the census for Huntingdon, as I have now received John Bates marrage certificate which shows farther is Henry Bates, Shepared.  I still have not been able to trace them, so believe they have moved around.

Thank you.  Any more ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Claire
