King's Inn Admission Papers - question
« on: Friday 02 July 10 17:13 BST (UK) »
Good day,

I borrowed a copy of the King's Inn book trying to trace the lineage of my ancestor, Mr. Phillips Callbeck.  On my search, I believe I found him (though listed as Philip Callbeck), but instead of showing his parentage, it only showed that he was an attorney, and the following notation "T 1766".  The abbreviations list in the book states that "T" denotes Trinity Term.

Therefore, would T 1766 denote the completion of Trinity Term in 1766?  If so, would that be the year he completed his schooling?  I am assuming this would be at Trinity College - but is that necessarily the case?

Thank you for any and all help you may provide.

Cheers!

King's Inn is beside the Four Courts ... Trinity College is further east on the other side of the Liffey.

Trinity in this case refers to the Term (I think Oxford and some other collages use these also) :  Michaelmas - Autumn Term, Hilary - new year to March and Trinity term up to about May.
