What happened to William Stevenson

William Stevenson was born c 1820 Hedderwick Dunbar son of Archibald Stevenson and Jean Leslie
on 1851 census he is a butler at Southwick House Kirkcubrightshire
1871 census he is a butler to Frances Maxwell Speddoch House Kirkcubrightshire
on 1881 census he is still a butler to Frances Maxwell but is now at Balgonie House near North Berwick. He never married but what happened to him I cannot find a death on S.P. can you.

I have been trying to find William Stevenson for a long time .This is up dated information
He was born in Dunbar East Lothian 5Th May 1819 son of Archibald Stevenson and Jean Leslie married Christine Bowers 19Th February 1839 in Edinburgh.
On 1871 Christine is a widow andemigrates to New Zealand with her widowed daughter where she dies in March 1899.
William is still alive on 1881 census  I have never been able to find a death for him at NRH in Edinburgh
There is no evidence of him going to New Zealand .
Any help would be much appreciated.

               Yes it was father was Edward Stevenson  a cooper and mother Ann ms Leslie.
