where is Cwm yr Aber
« on: Thursday 08 July 10 10:53 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

I have Cwm yr Aber Eglwysilan sub district Pontypridd on a death certificate dated 1872. Does  any Rootschatter know where this is. The occupation of deceased is farm servant. Could it be a farm address or just the area.

Its a place, Cwm yr Aber is the Welsh for the Aber Valley which contains the village of Abertridwr and Senghenydd.

I took some photos for the community website: http://www.abervalley.org.uk/photo.htm

Hi Sikes,

Thanks for your reply and amazing photos.  I hoped it would be a farm.  The informant on the death cert. is a John Morgan, but without an address it's difficult to find him on the 1871 census.

In 1871 there is a John Morgan (aged 51, with 2 sons John & Evan) at Hendredenny which is at the entrance to the valley. See here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=313300&Y=188140&A=Y&Z=120

Hi Sikes,

I don't have any details on John Morgan.  The deceased is Daniel Morgan, but I think I may have the wrong cert. I'm searching deaths for Daniel Morgan from 1871 to 1881 living in Treforest in 1871, but born in  Caerphilly, so I thought  if I could  look at John Morgan and family it might give me a clue whether I have the correct cert. I may be on a wild goose chase.

Anyhow, thank you for all the help.
