Family tree chart
« on: Thursday 15 July 10 10:06 BST (UK) »
Hi, I put most of my tree on Ancestry but would like to be able to print it out complete in a large format/chart. I have, in the past, hand written it on a chart but my handwriting is not tidy. Can anyone recommend a simple computer  programme that I could use to print out a 5 or 6 generation chart? I can print A3 myself or take to a printers for A2 size.
Pip

Practically any family tree program can print that kind of chart.  There might be differences in style and options for how much detail to include, but otherwise most programs are designed to cope with your request for a chart.

You can request a GEDCOM file from Ancestry and they will attach the file to an email to you.

You can get a number of free programs like PAF (Personal Ancestry File) for instance from Family Search and you download their program onto your local C drive and then import the GEDCOM file from Ancestry.

Hi,
Let us know if you find a good product you are satisfied with
I had opened a thread trying to get feedback on products producing
well layed out plots (showing everyone in the ged file and specifically
multiple marriages, no blood line relations

I subsequently found some negative feedback on FTM extended family chart

currently I think I must spend time trying installing/trying out free evaluations on each product to see if one meets my needs
since have failed to find a recent comparison of products, few products
seem to have comprehensive online documentation
Cheers, Paul
