The reason I ask is I forget I have put something in the oven ;D
It seems you cant buy timers anymore, and  I cant hear the oven timer from the room next door.So that's why I am asking  :)

Not sure where you've been looking but you can find a wide variety of timers (from plain dial ones to animal-shaped ones and other novelty shapes) in many shops, mail order catalogues, etc.

Timers are available from Maplins (Electronic componenets store)
Just had a look at one, counts down/up you choose. (10 UK pounds)
Most supermarkets sell the basic mechanical timer.

There are various onscreen "alarm clocks" you can get - probably the safest download is the one which is part of Microsoft's Power Toys for XP from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/mcepowertoys.mspx

But you would probably be better off with a small timer to sit next to your machine
