HMS Victorious
« on: Saturday 17 July 10 10:27 BST (UK) »
I have been unable to find my Grandfather's service record. My grandmother reported that he was a stoker on HMS Victorious - this would have been during WW1, and apocryphally, that he trained as an Artificer; I have two copper and brass 'shoes' which I was told he made as a 'tif apprentice. Can anyone please guide me to where I might obtain more information? The complication is that he was born James William but appears to have used William as they were also his father's (and his son's - my father's) names :) Many thanks a newbie :)
