Watts and Freer in Radford
« on: Sunday 18 July 10 09:45 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Frederick Frear and Eliza Watts were married according to LDS Family Search on 12 May 1828 in Radford, Nottinghamshire. Now I believe Eliza to be an ancestor of mine coming from Castle Donnington area of north Leicestershire (see postings on Leicestershire forum).
The evidence would suggest that Miriam Watts may have been born in Nottinghamshire before the marriage. Could someone kindly do a look up please for Radford and possibly surrounding parishes? I believe she will be born between 1826/ 1827 or thereabouts. She may be listed as the daughter of Eliza Watts or of Frederick Freer (or Frear) and Eliza together. Any help would be gratefully received.
I can trace Miriam Watts and Frederick and Eliza Freer in the 1841 census and after so I do not need that info.
Thanks for reading this

Hi
I think I have found your Miriam on the FamilySearch
She is called Miriam Frear and was christened in Quorndon, Leicester
on 14th February 1836, so just wondered if she was born in this
area too as I have looked for a Nottingham birth and cannot find one.
Her parents are listed as Frederick and Eliza.
Just wondered if you might have got the wrong year of birth?
Hope this helps
regards
Sandymc

Hi Sandymc,
Thanks for that. I'm pretty sure the year is correct as she was 14 in 1841 and 24 in the 1851 census putting her birth around 1827. I suspect she was never baptised as she was born illegitimately and then later she was christened age 8 or 9 where her family were then all residing.
Thanks again
Gerard
PS it would be useful if someone could view the parish records to confirm the marriage in Radford and eliminate the possibility that there is a record of Miriam's baptism in the Radford area.
PPS I have requested a look up in Quorndon on the Leicestershire posting for Miriam Watts
