Old Map showing Church Road, Tranmere
« on: Monday 19 July 10 23:11 BST (UK) »
Just wondering if anyone had an old map for Church Road, Tranmere.
On an 1871 Census I have my fourth great grandmother living at 'The Farm' on Church Road.  I know Church Road quite well, but I have googled and googled to see if I can find where abouts on Church Road it might have been and come up with nothing.

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried looking at all the images in that group?  They will give you an idea of the properties and/or roads around The Farm.

You can also view the district description.  See the Help on whatever site you are using.  I can provide detailed instructions for Anc***ry if you need them.

Hi

The link below may be of some help. Go to the drop down menu headed   Jump directly to a specific township:  and select Tranmere, Bebington. This opens a page with 2 maps on it. Use the modern map on the right to locate Church Road and zoom in (zoom bar between the maps) The map on the left will show the same area at different dates using the tabs above the map. There is one for 1875 that might be the best option.

Thanks for that.  The 1875 is of poor quality and I can't really make anything out on it.  I have bookmarked that site though, as it might prove useful in other family research.

On the same census a family are living on Farm Cottage and the rest of the properties are numbered.  I'll keep looking.

Thanks again,

Emma
