Good Morning Rakker6

Thank you for all your further information which will be a great help.

I did check the 1911 British Census for you, a few days ago, which is the latest one we can check, and with the info then, couldn't find them, but will certainly try for you again to-day.

Have to keep appointments now, but will be back to help you later, if someone else helps in the meanwhile, good on them!

Cheers
Danchaslyn

Hello Rakker6

I'm sorry to say, I'm having difficulty matching your details.........but, I do recall, that in Pinetown, in the old province of Natal, (now called Kwa Zulu Natal), which used to be a British Colony, there is a road:

         MELLOR ROAD

It's in one of the "older areas" of Pinetown, near to where Lord Baden Powell lived, so may well have been named after your ancestor, or a member of his family?

Cheers

Hi Rakker,
On Ancestry24 there is a record for a John Michael Russell Mellor, son of Major J.R. Mellor, in the St Andrews College collection. (a boarding school  in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa) Possibly your Joseph Rathbone?

Hello Rakker6

Just to recap as it may aid in tracing your uncle JOSEPH RATHBONE MELLOR

He was born:  30 May, 1894 at 63 Bianca St, Bootle, Liverpool, England

             His Father:  Samuel Mellor
             Mother:  Ada Mary Mellor

Married:  Jane Latham, age 17, he was 21, on 14 July, 1915

Their Daughter Nellie was born, 1915.

Their Son, Frederick was born, 1924.

During 1915 you have evidence of the family living with parents, S & A Mellor,
at 33 Buchan Road, Walton, Liverpool, England.

Sometime after 1924, J R Mellor and Jane Mellor are divorced, in England.

Later, J R Mellor, your Uncle emigrates to South Africa to look for diamonds.

You are searching for any "South African" Family of Joseph Rathbone Mellor?

And any further details, plus the date and place of his death and burial?

Cheers

Hi,

Wonder if this site will be of use.   I have used it in the past six months, and guess it is more like a transcription service.  You just need to sign in with a password.

http://www.ancestor.co.za/   It is a South African site.

I see Peter Eyre 1917 on there.  Plenty of "Mellor" on there.

Hope it helps.

Cheers
