Stuck on this one

I have reached a standstill on this and would appreciate any help or suggestions.  

Metcalfe ancestors from North Yorkshire.
The info I have is:
 
In 1839 Jane Metcalfe b Bolton Castle 1815 married Thomas Cragg my Gr gr gr grandfather.(I can trace this line back)
 
Jane was the daughter of Anthony Metcalfe & Elizabeth Foster who married at Hampsthwaite in 1808. A brickwall from here! Cannot find their birth details.
 
Anthony & Elizabeth had  eight children who were baptised as follows

Smith Metcalfe b 1808 Hampsthwaite
John                b  1811 Thornthwaite
William             b  1812 Thornthwaite
Jane                 b  1815 Castle Bolton/Redmire
Anthony           b 1818   Castle Bolton/Redmire
Hannah            b 1818   Castle Bolton/Redmire
Maria                b 1820   Castle Bolton/Redmire
Foster               b 1822  Castle Bolton/Redmire

 The youngest Foster Cragg died in Wilsden in 1837. So the family must have moved to Bradford - have not been able to check the 1841 census - have tried the lookup exchange for this area but did not receive a reply.
Anthony Metcalfe was a coal miner.

Any help or suggestions???

Hi Janet,

I have found this one on the VRI, do not know how you can verify it as yours, do you have any parent names? On the map it gives Richmond as in North Yorkshire.

Hi Frances  
Thanks for that but I don't think he is mine. However I decided to think outside the box as they say and wondered if Smith the name of the eldest son could be Anthony's mother's maiden name. In the Hampsthwaite church records there was a burial for Joanna Metcalfe in 1814 so I put the two together.
You wouldn't believe I found Joan Smyth who married Anthony Metcalfe in Wensley York just down the road a bit. They had a son Anthony b 1785 in Wensley.         One problem solved and another started - now searching for the generation before them.
Still I found my Anthony - I think the neighbours thought I won lotto with my cheers of delight.
Thanks again - would you be so kind as to look up Anthony Metcalfe again 20 years earlier ? - I have just found one born Preston Wensley Yorkshire circa 1749 but with no parents names.

Hi,

I believe Anthony Metcalfe (snr) may have lived at Preston under Scaur.  This village is close to Wensley and would use the church there.  Wensley registers indicate Anthony snr was resident there in 1777, 30 Oct, & 1781 when daus Mary were buried 23 Sep. - and 1777 when he had a dau Catherine bapt
Then follows the bapt you also found 4 Dec 1785.
15 Mar 1774, Anthony Metcalf & Joanna Smith, both otp married, witnesses Thomas Lonsdale, Ann Smith.

Thank you x 100 Christine, this certainly has very distinct possiblities. May I ask how/where you found this info, as I would be interested in knowing if it is possbile to go back another generation to find Anthony's parents.

I searched back in the Hampsthwaite church records courtesy of LDS and found Johanna Smith daughter of Jonas, lots of Metcalfes around but not Anthony's.
