(Hants) 1841/1851/1861/1871 Census Lookup Requests Please For John Rossiter

Hi,

I am doing a one name study of the Rossiter family and am looking for information please about the parents, grandparents, siblings and children of John Rossiter who married Anna Elizabeth Pengelly on February 3rd 1850 at  Southampton.

John's father was James but I have no details about him or about John's mother.

Any information would be greatly appreciated please.TIA.

I have just looked for John Rossiter on the 1851/1861 census and there isn't one who immediately jumps to mind as being the right one - none in Southampton area. The nearest seems to be Chicester. Do you have a dob for him - even approx?

Thanks for that. At present, that's all I have.

The Rossiters are scattered round Hampshire so I'd be surprised if they were not linked in some way.

Can you post details of your John from Chichester please.TIA.

that family are also in chichester in 1841
so if john married in 1850 it would not be them

children Ann, George, Elizabeth, Jemima and Ellen

Maybe they eloped to get married - might be interesting to see whether they were married by licence.

i believe that john married ann monk on the 3.4.1832 at st.peter the great or subdeanery of chichester
this is the area they are in in 1841/1851
their eldest daughter is lucy born c 1833 in that area

also with them in 1841 is a mary monk aged 20
