Hi

I have found the following family on the 1880 US census in Williamstown, Dauphin, Pennsylvania. They were all born in Wales as were their parents.  Is anyone able to give any information as to when they travelled to USA please and does the census give any other information other than occupation.

the 1900 Census Williamstown, Dauphin, Pennsylvania

Margaret Morris 67 Born Wales. Immigrated 1872  ??? Widowed. Had 6 children and 4 survive

James was born in Wales about 1868 and they appear on the 1870 Census - so it looks as if they have travelled between those dates.

Hi *Sandra*

Very many thanks for all the information, much appreciated.  I must admit I am clutching at straws that this may be my family (a brother of my gt gt grandmother).  But it has certainly given me something to work on.  They came from Pembrokeshire which certainly comes under the description of South Wales.

Hi Rosie,

Hope you have the right connection, it appears that Thomas died 1892
in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania so I can't follow him any further for you on Census. The 1890 was destroyed by fire unfortunately, only remnants remain.
Margaret died 1910 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
Richard died 1890 in Williamstown, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
James died 29 Oct 1915 in Williamstown , Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Single

Regards.
Sandra

Thank you again Sandra

I hope it is who I am after.  :)

I haven't managed to locate them in Wales in 1861 which doesn't help but I have another post on here for that to be looked up, having a daughter Elizabeth would solve that one.

No I hadn't, thank you.

The only downside is Thomas bn 1831 when I want him 1836 but we all know that can be wrong.

The Shuttleworth also needs investigating, still that could be the link that proves it one way or the other which is always a bonus.
