Cornish TREMEWAN/TREMAIN family - children, marriage lookup please

Hi all,

I am looking for a few details about my great great grandmother, Rhoda Tremewan.

I know that Rhoda was:
•   Born: 18 April 1860 in Roche, Cornwall
•   Parents: Thomas Tremewan/Tremain and Mary A.
•   Married Michael Alford/Elford Philp on 14 February 1883 in Bodmin, Cornwall
•   Had children with Michael - Hugh, Mabel
•   Emigrated to Australia on the  S.S. Doric.
•   Had further children to Michael - Elsie and Ida (born 1888 and 1889 in Armidale, Australia)
•   Died 18 February 1930, Buried in Old Cheltenham Cemetery in Victoria.


Sounds like alot of information, I know.  I found out all about her husband, Michael and his story.  Quite interesting it all turned out to be!  But I'm having trouble finding out about Rhoda's family and tracing her back.

I'd love to know:

•   Did Rhoda have any brothers and sisters, and when and where were they born?
•   When and where did Rhoda’s parent’s marry?
•   What was Rhoda’s mother’s maiden name?   Or where can I obtain a certificate which might reveal this detail?

Is anyone able to find any information out about my Rhoda?

Birth Rhoda Tremewan Sept qtr 1860 St Austell v5c page 136 (This will provide the mothers maiden name )

I was aware the Cornish census is online - it's how I got a good idea about Rhoda in the beginning. 

I will have a stab at finding the additional siblings on the 1851 census.  Its such a pain that birth dates can only be approximated from them!  I'd love a good BDMs register for Cornwall!

Keyboard - I had seen the potential marriage with Mary Ann Symons in 1843 - and now that I've calculated approximate dates for birth of children (Ann, the eldest at this stage, being born in 1843) - maybe this is Rhoda's mother?  I'll have to check out the additional children in the 1851 census though first.

I did for a while think that it was Mary Anne Isaac Pearce, marriage in 1852 in Bodmin Cornwall, (Rhoda met her husband in Bodmin) - but it turns out Mary Anne Isaac died too early for it to be her (if I remember correctly).

Just got to do some additional checks to see where we stand with Mary Symons.

Wow Kris - the roche site link you give is amazing! 

I found baptisms for Rhoda and Ellen.   It seems Hart had his family in Roche - many of his children are baptised there.

So now I also know that Rhoda was baptised on 4 June 1860 in Roche.  Does that mean she was baptised in Roche Parish Church - pictured on the website?  Beautiful!

I've checked the Roche marriage register for a Thomas and Mary marriage in the right time-frame - no luck...  Is there a similar site for truro parish?
