Maggie Lambert Millar
« on: Sunday 01 August 10 06:45 BST (UK) »
I have a M L Millar, born 1894 5 Newtown, Bo'ness to Annie Millar.   No father on BC.   MLM married a David Honeyman (born 1895, Perth) in Dunbarney, Perth in 1916.

Have tried and tried to find out more about Annie, censuses etc,  but to no avail.

Can anyone help?

Have you managed to find Maggie in the 1901 census. There is this entry for example:

Thomas Lambert 56, Cattleman On Farm b. Falkland, Fifeshire
Margaret Lambert 55 b. Leuchar's, Fifeshire
Jessie Lambert 18 b. Falkland, Fifeshire
William Lambert 15 b. Auchtermuchty, Fifeshire
Maggie Lambert 6, granddaughter b. Boness, Linlsthgowshire
Alexander Lindsay 89, boarder b. Stighmarten, Forfarshire

Address: Blinkbonny Cot House, Abdie, Fife

Or there are other entries in 1901, where mother shows as Ann*, where perhaps a marriage could have taken place after Maggie's birth.

Always hard these types of searches  :-\ Don't suppose there were any clues from Maggie's marriage or death certs - sometimes if mother goes on to marry after an illegitimate birth, the new married name can be included.

I just wondered whether the reputed father may have been a Lambert and Maggie was taken in by his parents. Struggling to see anything else for Maggie (searching for her as ma*g*) in 1901 with the names we have and a Bo'ness birth place. Always hard these types of searches aren't they  :-\

Monica

Added: Just thought to check SP for a birth of a Ma*g* Lambert in West Lothian between 1893-5 and nothing shows for that birth so that 1901 census looks a possible for Maggie. As for Annie Millar.....

I was thinking the same Ev!

Also thinking though that if this was Maggie with her paternal g/parents, she would then know the name of her father and likely have given it in her marriage registration.

Let's see what other info BW can add...

Have now found that David Honeyman died in 1931 and ML married a Francis Allan L Whyte in 1935, Perth.   Still cannot see death for her under both names but FALW died in Perth 1965.

Have seen MC for MLM to David and no father recorded

Ev - yes that is her and the plot thickens.   on her DC it shows her married names as Laird, Honeyman and Whyte.   She married a Robert Laird in 1914, but on her daus MC she does not list a father???
