Wow, that was quick, I thank you very much, I had his 1st wife for some reason as a Barradale.
His son Richard Craddock Gray immigrated to Canada in 1924 along with his wife Isabella Todd Gray and 3 kids, one of the children was my grandmother Margaret Jane Gray. Rchard left the family to find work, never to be heard from again. The ships list shows my grandmother as born in 1914, she swears she was born in 1919, any way to tell who is right by chance?

Hello

The official govt website is www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk - free to register - but ppv. Minimum £6.00 (six pounds) spend. Allows for up to 5 downloads and save of BMDs.

Scottish certs from 1855 onwards are extremely imformative. e.g a birth entry will give both parents names (if married), occupations where married and date - also include mothers maiden name.

Using the free seach facility on the above site, in all of Scotland 1914 - 1920, there are the following Margaret Jane Gray births,
1914 = 1, 1915 = 0, 1916 = 1, 1917 = 1, 1918 = 0, 1919 = 1,1920 = 0.

Unfortunately the only way to find out would be to download the entry.

It might be Barrowdale in the cold light of day and enlarged to 300% but it's definitely not Barradale

(I have glaucoma which makes my vision very blurry first thing)

These names were written down as they sounded in those days. I see that Elizabeth is Craddick rather than Craddock

The IGI has an Elisabeth Barradale b. Mochrum, Wiogtownshire in 1859. Would this be her? (Added - don't think so as she was 26 and b. Ayr on the 1881)

It's best to use soundex or asterisks when searching on SP - lots of variations of surnames - including something as simple as Gray

thank you for the image, i seen the craddick also and laughed, as far as census takers went, must have been a global disaster in those times, Canadian census's are wacko too..lol
