Kings Sutton baptism Haynes/ Haines help please
« on: Wednesday 04 August 10 21:27 BST (UK) »
Hi there,

Could someone please help me with a lookup in the 1640- 50ish  Kings Sutton baptismal registers.  I'm looking for the births of a (by 1665)  Quaker Haynes/ Haines etc family  who went on to marry in Banbury, Oxon.

I only have their marriage and in some cases death dates so their birth dates are a guess.  I know for certain the women were born in K.S.  the men are a bit more of a guess but very likely their brothers.

They are:  John Haynes (m. Mary Smyth 1665, d. 1691)
Elizabeth and Mary Haynes both m'd 1667 in Banbury Quaker meeting house to non local men, both born KS
Richard Haynes  (m Margaret 1664 poss in Aynho) d, New Jersey USA

John Haynes and Mary nee Smyth are my 8x gt grandparents

with many thanks

Many thanks Sue,  It helps considerably more than a bit!   The children's names, plus a Thomas, reflect exactly "my" John's children, so more and more I think I'm on the right track

best wishes

Hi Alison,
I found a marriage of Thomas Haines and Maria ? (it looks like Oants or Oasts) in 1635 if you are interested.

I am indeed!  thank you very much.  I'd looked on the free reg site as they had some Kings sutton marriages, but not that one - I'm assuming it was in Kings Sutton

thank you again ,

not a problem at all Sue!

One last question - I see that Thomas Haynes married Elizabeth Tasker there  on 12 Jan 1601  - are there any baptisms for children of Thomas (and Elizabeth) please shortly after 1601.  ?

many thanks

Hi Alison,
I had a look from 1600 on but the film is really in bad condition and hard to read and I could not see any Haines sorry.
Thomas and Maria are on free reg they have 1635/6 and have her as Mary Oares.
